Depending on your state, the criteria might vary. I am a realtor in Southern Caliornia where you can take Real Estate Principles and take the exam. If you pass you will have a provisional 18 month license; thereafter, you must take two additional courses within 18 months to make your license permanent for four years. However, as of October of 2001, the Department of Real Estate will require Real Estate Principles and two additional courses BEFORE taking the real estate exam. Once you pass the exam and sign up with a good firm, they should send you to ethics training (about three hours) , you take an exam and this is where you earn the "Realtor," designation versus just being an agent.

Hope this helps.

To become a successful Real Estate agent, you need not just focus on completing your studies cleaning tests. If you don’t plan well beforehand, you will fail miserably in the game of real estate. When beginning with the domain of real estate, you need to have a backup plan. Do a part-time job or save some amount of money as you might have to work without any commission for some time. You should be able to pay your bills, even if it requires you to work part-time as an agent. It might not have been your plan to work part-time, but you still should do so if you want to be successful Real Estate agent in the future. You might not have to go through all this, if your relative or family member is willing to buy property then you can survive for a long time without having to worry about income. You need to have a mentor who you can trust and follow for making your business a success. You can offer to assist a renowned broker so that you can learn about nuances concerned with Real Estate. In the process, you will learn about title insurance, deeds, and everything else related to the domain. You will be more confident in the future when handling transactions single-handedly once, you will have experience working under a broker. You will feel capable about knowing all nitty-gritty of real estate.

Becoming a realtor isn't really that difficult. I am a licensed Broker Associate in Indiana. Which Indiana actually has some of the hardest testing for Real Estate. I personally went to a class instead of doing an online course. Like SoCal Realtor wrote you are not actually a Realtor until you join NAR. There are fee's in doing this but once you pass the class and the state exam it shouldn't be that hard. Here in Indiana you are under a lot of the same guidelines as California now. Really you will want to go talk with a Managing Broker of a company you see a lot of. They can guide you through the reins and possibly pay for some of your schooling as long as you sign with them once you are licensed. Here in Indiana I think start to finish it was about a $2000 total investment to get started.

If you like to become a agent, be sure to study what is associated with your state. Some states have needs that are simpler than others, nevertheless it is not easy to truly get your license in most areas. In case you have expertise within this field, becoming a real estate agent is easy. If you want to become a real estate agent subsequently join any property education institute or assist any seasoned person for quite a while.

If you want to become a real estate agent, make sure you research what is involved in your state. Some states have easier requirements than others, but it is difficult to get your license in most places. It costs a lot of money to become a real estate agent, but it is well worth it in my opinion. Becoming a real estate agent saves a ton of money and allows you a better opportunity to buy properties below market value.

Good Luck :)

To be an real estate agent is not difficult. But you have to take care of certain things into your mind.

1. You should have accurate information about all the property where your business is.

2. Data should not be manipulated, should not try to cheat your own client.

3. Person needs to be polite in the society.Because it will help him to gain more customers.

These three things will help to win over most of the situation in the real estate business.Else it is not a cake walk.

Real estate professionals are tied to the development of our society in a very direct way and participate in decisions that will shape the way we live for centuries. Work in real estate is personally rewarding, ever-changing and challenging. Take some time and consider your potential in the field of real estate. One of the exciting things about real estate is that it can be approached from so many different ways. You can be a white-collar worker projecting and analyzing cash flows from new developments with spreadsheets; an agent in the field with heavy contact with customers on a day to day basis; or an entrepreneurial property owner/manager looking for undervalued real estate buys and strategies for creating value.

If you have enough financial back up then you can think of becoming real estate investore. Before investing any money study the real estate market where you plan to invest. Start with a small area of a town or city and concentrate your investment efforts there.

First try to find someone you know and trust. Whether they are a broker, agent or attorney. Just b/c they are one of these three does not automatically preclude them from being the right person for you. You need to feel comfortable with them. Keep in mind during all of this, that they are working for you. If they are not working but merely collecting a paycheck, find someone else. Everyone of the aforementioned people can and will make a significant amount of money if you choose to work with them. Further, most markets in the US have tilted towards the buyers side to some extent. This means you are now in the drivers seat. Everyone in the real estate industry needs buyers. Best of luck. Joe...

I've been a Realtor for about 10 years, most of which was in Virginia and North Carolina and now in Alabama. So, I've gone through the licensing education and exams in 3 states. I wouldn't say it is hard but you definitely have to treat it like you would if you were taking a college course and needing to pass. There are 2 ways of going about getting the education done: online or classroom. I went through them both for different states. For me, I preferred the online version because I could move at my own pace, which was nice. The downside is you don't have the instructor right in front of you if you have an immediate question. Although, I'm sure you could send them an email if you needed to. The downside to the classroom version is that it seems that in every situation where there's people involved you are always going to have someone who wants to be very vocal: asks tons of questions, gives lots of personal stories, blah blah, etc. Anyway, the educational part of it is not that difficult. You will have quizzes through the course and then a final exam. After you pass the final exam, you will have to take the state exam. I've taken the state exam 3 times with 3 different states. Although I passed all 3 the first time around, I was always irritated of how they asked the questions. Take lots of detailed notes and study hard. You'll be fine.

Becoming a real estate agent is a tough task but not so difficult, to become a successful agent you must have inventory to showcase your clients. Once you have lots of inventory then you should have good exposure so that people can contact you. This could be both online and offline. For this you can open one office and get listed to several online platform. The more you get exposure more you will earn.

Real estate is "property consisting of land and the buildings on it, along with its natural resources such as crops, minerals, or water; immovable property of this nature; an interest vested in this (also) an item of real property; (more generally) buildings or housing in general. Also: the business of real estate; the profession of buying, selling, or renting land, buildings or housing."

Residential real estate is a type of property, containing either a single family or multifamily structure, that is available for occupation for non-business purposes.[2]

Residences can be classified by, if, and how they are connected to neighbouring residences and land. Different types of housing tenure can be used for the same physical type. For example, connected residents might be owned by a single entity and leased out, or owned separately with an agreement covering the relationship between units and common areas and concerns.

'Single-family detached home'

Major categories in North America and Europe

Attached / multi-unit dwellings

Apartment – An individual unit in a multi-unit building. The boundaries of the apartment are generally defined by a perimeter of locked or lockable doors. Often seen in multi-story apartment buildings.

Multi-family house – Often seen in multi-story detached buildings, where each floor is a separate apartment or unit.

Terraced house (a. k. a. townhouse or rowhouse) – A number of single or multi-unit buildings in a continuous row with shared walls and no intervening space.

Condominium – Building or complex, similar to apartments, owned by individuals. Common grounds and common areas within the complex are owned and shared jointly. There are townhouse or rowhouse style condominiums as well.

Cooperative (a. k. a. co-op) – A type of multiple ownership in which the residents of a multi-unit housing complex own shares in the cooperative corporation that owns the property, giving each resident the right to occupy a specific apartment or unit.

Semi-detached dwellings

Duplex – Two units with one shared wall.

Single-family detached home

Portable dwellings

Mobile homes – Potentially a full-time residence which can be (might not in practice be) movable on wheels.

Houseboats – A floating home

Tents – Usually very temporary, with roof and walls consisting only of fabric-like material.

The size of an apartment or house can be described in square feet or meters. In the United States, this includes the area of "living space", excluding the garage and other non-living spaces. The "square meters" figure of a house in Europe may report the total area of the walls enclosing the home, thus including any attached garage and non-living spaces, which makes it important to inquire what kind of surface definition has been used.

It can be described more roughly by the number of rooms. A studio apartment has a single bedroom with no living room (possibly a separate kitchen). A one-bedroom apartment has a living or dining room separate from the bedroom. Two bedroom, three bedroom, and larger units are common. (A bedroom is defined as a room with a closet for clothes storage.)..................Property Management

Just like anything else, your motivation will determine the difficulty. The right motivation will effect your focus, and your ability to succeed.

If you are considering being a realtor as a road to great wealth, think again. Obtaining your license is but a small but important step, but you need to continue to gain knowledge, and focus in an area to truly be successful.

What is real estate?

Often we see beautiful and gorgeous ads about new residential complexes on the internet, magazines and the newspapers. These are often gated communities coming with world class amenities like swimming pools, gyms, theatres, children’s play areas and so on. It’s not just these, you so often come across majestic and splendid malls, health caring hospitals, super shopping complexes, tall and grand hotels and last but not the least single homes too.

Real estate and its many forms

Real estate is asset consisting of land and the buildings on it as well as the natural resources of the land including uncultivated flora and fauna, farmed crops and livestock, water and minerals. Real estate can be broadly classified into residential, commercial and industrial

Residential real estate

Residential real estate are our homes. There are single residential as well as multi residential complexes. Multi residential complexes come under commercial real estate

Commercial real estate

The spectacular malls, shopping complexes, deluxe restaurants, amazing hotels and so on fall under commercial real estate. Commercial real estate fetches a lot of money as compared to ordinary real estate. People who invest in commercial real estate are either experts in that field themselves or they must take the guidance of real estate adepts who know the ins and outs of the industry.

Industrial real estate

This can be called as the industrial era with so many industries in various sectors popping up endlessly. This has obviously led to a boom in the real estate industry as well.

Real estate and real property

Real property refers to intangible assets such as stocks, bonds and shares and also other tangible properties like computers, television, furniture and so on. While these tangible properties are all depreciating properties of real estate.
