When are you moving? If you have specific plans to move in a week or two then any notice is moot.
Is he asking you to leave because you tried to get legal on him and turn him in? Side note- that type of thing does not usually work. Sure he might get sighted or have to pay a small fine, but he can still ask you to move out.
It is not an eviction notice, right, just a request to leave. Do you have a lease? That can effect how you have to be notified, ie 30 days, etc. I will assume the landlord knows what they are doing. After a valid notice to leave expires, if the tenant is still there, the landlord can file an eviction notice. A court date will be set, check with local city to see the schedules, usually takes 3-4 weeks.
If you go to court and lose, which you would if the notice and process were done correctly, an eviction date will be set 10-30 days from then.
An eviction could show up on court records and credit report. Also he may go back into court after the eviction for any missed rent, court, attorney costs, etc.
