My family and I are moving to an apartment. We went on Monday to pay the deposit and thought they were going to give us the key then. However they said our move in date wasn't until the 7th, which is today. So I called over there today and they told us the apartment wasn't ready. They've had a whole week to work on it and today IS our move in date. They told me to call back later. My question is, this apartment is really our only option, so what should I say when I call back if the apartment isn't ready? I feel like they've had a week to work on it, and they knew we were supposed to move in today so how can I sound intelligent and get my point across without totally pissing someone off?

well when you gave the deposit did you sign the lease or was it a holding deposit? just tell thim this is a really big inconvience and you have kept up your side of the deal and you expect them to do the same ask them what still needs to be completed and if you can at least start moving your things in. you are sure it wasnt a scam, right!?

I had it happen to me twice the first time I couldn't move and luckliy had friends to live with but the second time I took the apt and forced them to le tme move in not ready but had them sign an agreement as to when the repairs would be done. Complexes are hard they are managed and you sledom deal with the owners because they are into the money only!!

You might have to get aggressive and oh well if you piss them off, tough cookies to them they need to do their jobs. See if you can get some local church to help you or some community groups that could influence this place, there has to be someone who can help.

purely in case of an emergency can a landlord enter unannounced. In maximum states a 24-hour published be conscious is needed. In some states the regulation is greater strict; in New Jersey, the owner is had to offer seventy two-hour written be conscious. The NJ rules have been presently changed that a landlord isn't required to have a key to the home (yet pointless to characteristic, keys might desire to be surpassed over upon termination of the residency). If a landlord persists in unwarranted entries, which would be seen harassment. on the different hand, as long simply by fact the owner has valid reason to go into the valuables you may desire to offer get right of entry to.

Tell them that you have hired people to help you move in today & this is the only day you will have help. Tell them you have already given notice where you live now & must get in today as promised. Speak with the manager. So what if you make someone a little mad, I would be furious!

If the move-in date is listed on the lease then they need to abide by that and make sure the apartment is ready by that date. If not you have a good case to report them to the BBB (Better Business Bureau).

You march and tell them that their customer delivery is poor and that you find them incompetent in this. Also, tell them that they gave their word on something and they didn't deliver. Especially if the move in date is on the lease, then they have to step up. You don't have to be mean but be affirmative, assertive and stern. Let them know who is boss. It's not like your begging or anything.
