Question:
Are window coverings usually included in a rental property?

I am moving into a rental home soon. The home has large windows which face the street with no window coverings other than a very thin lace curtain in one window. All of the previous homes I have rented came with some sort of window covering. Should I ask the owner to include them? I'd like wood/fake wood blinds. They would would look nice in the house, but, as with many window treatments, they need to be pre measured and cut. That service is free, but if I buy them myself (eventually...) they would have to stay with the house when I move out. Should I speak to the owner about it? Thanks!

Most rental properties in Australia - require that there must be at least SOME kind of covering on a window, whether it's a blind, curtain etc.

I would approach your real estate agent, and request that the owner put in some kind of window covering for sun protection & privacy.

As far as I know in our country, there obligated to do that for sunlight and privacy.

However it's up to them to decide WHAT kind of covering to put on the window. Whether it's a curtain or a cheap blind etc.

No window covering are not part of the rental agreement.

As a landlord I would not pay for wooden blinds. That is your personal decorating preference.

It doesn't hurt to ask.

My rental included window coverings because I want the place to be move in ready and I do not want a tenant drilling holes to install blinds.

I see no reason why you can’t apoach the owner about working out an agreement…ex. I buy custom window treatments, you take part of the cost out of my rent, and then you keep them when I move out.

no. it must be liveable (operating water, electricity, walls, roof, floor, walls, doors). each and every thing else is their duty. even if you'll entice a larger high quality of tenant in case you install window coverings. something undemanding, solid and easy to sparkling.

It depends on the landlord. It can't hurt to ask, and offering to split the cost would be a fair offer.
